Transformation
The story of this
unit's transformation starts with a 1981, 100 foot elevating
platform purchased by the Fort Worth, Texas, Fire Department.
It is one of three units contracted for remanufacturing. The
process began with a new chassis and a new customer-configured
compartmentation layout. The upgraded ladder and platform then
brought the entire unit up to current NFPA standards.
Body Upgrade
Body upgrades can
include, but are not limited to, the main compartmentation in
aluminum, galvaneal steel, or stainless steel; roll-up or
traditional swing-out doors; and transverse compartmentation.
Almost any combination of shelving and equipment mounting can be
provided.
Turntable
Upgrades
New aluminum decking
on the turntable substructure will make the turntable more attractive,
while the additon of NFPA-approved handrails, an updated control
station, and rebuild of the swing-drive motor will increase opration
efficiency and safety. Replacement of the rotational bearing
or the addition of bronze bushings at the ladder attchment points
can have a major effect on the overall performance of the unit.
Ladder
Upgrade
New dual extension
cylinder systems along with new sheaves and extension/retraction
cables replace older cylinder drive and chain drive systems.
Rung-rails receive K-bracing and all sections are shot-blasted,
primed and repainted before new rung covers are installed. The
new cable carrier system protects and organizes air, electric, and
hydraulic lins providing a safer walkway area.
Platform
Upgrade
A new NFPA-compliant
platform installation will not only meet newer industry regulations,
but provide options not available on the original purchase --
options such as single or dual waterways, lift-jib mountings, and
advanced electrically-controlled hyrdaulic leveling system with
automatic holding valves. The new platform design is larger
and provides more usable square footage for firefighters and
victims. Driver visibility is also increased.
Chassis
& Cab Upgrade
Depending on the
condition of the chassis, a complete or partical replacement of
components can be done. A full glider kit replaces cab, frame
and driveline while utilizing existing engine, transmission and
axles.
